Im sure that she's a great groomer for older, well seasoned dogs. But read this review if you have a puppy!! I took my 19 week old puppy here for his first grooming appointment. He is a gentle giant, a playful puppy who loves people. Older ones, little kids, babies. He's never ever shown signs of aggression. If he was an aggressive dog, I would not bring him to a groomer without proper training beforehand. The first thing Mary Beth said when he walked in was "wow! He's a mess. He must be matted". Which was offensive because he has 19 weeks worth of grown out puppy hair, and I brush him and check for knots daily. He's not matted. But it doesn't matter, I left him there and within 5 minutes I get a call saying I need to pick him up because he's refusing to get in the tub and he's being bitey. I came to get him immediately and I go to see my puppy and he is backed himself into a corner, crying and whimpering with bright red eyes. They told me I'll need to groom him From home. I was very embarrassed and upset. They were not helpful or reassuring at all. They knew very well that it was his first ever groom, his age, and his size. Most groomers take more than 5 minutes to get a puppy adjusted to a new place. Not force them in a tub right away and dismiss him when he's scared and acting nervous. I was extremely disappointed. I made an appointment with a different groomer and told them about what happened. This new groomer Jen (Paws Up) took time with him, got him feeling comfortable, played with him, groomed him beautifully, and even told me he's very well behaved for his age. And she also commended me telling me he's very well taken care of, with not even one knot in his fur. I'm not saying that Marybeth is a horrible groomer, but definitely do NOT bring a puppy there unless you want them crying and trembling on the car ride home.
When you bring your dogs here you can tell they’re cared for. As soon as we walk in, Marybeth is happily greeting & petting them. My dogs also stay at the pet hotel here a few times a year, so it’s nice to get everything done at one place. I brought my shepard mix in just to see Marybeth while my mini poodle got groomed because she loves him. I highly recommend Marybeth & her team!
